the wedding of wilson & yvone took plc last sun. congrats to the newly weds.
the banquet was a nice gathering for us too. there was an interesting spread of food tt evening. one of the dishes was wasabi prawns with mango. din noe tt prawns, wasabi n mango can combine tog as a dish. haha~ unique taste. =) there was also this black ink squid noodles. victor said nice. i think the dessert is still the best. the finale of the night, mango pudding. =)

muffin baking time.
cooking is like doing chemistry. the taste and outcome of the food depends on using the right amount of the right type of starting materials and having a good control of the reaction time and process. the only distinction between cooking and doing chemical synthesis is that the one gives off aroma (well if you like the food you prepare) while the other dun (hmm unless u like the smell of solvents?). =D
i believe that food can cheer ppl up. being able to relish in the fruits of labour after working hard in the kitchen.. wats more to ask for? =P i rmb a famous chef once said that its not the taste and look of the dish tt appeal but the happy faces of the ppl who ate the food. =) do u think so too?
the choc chip muffins r my 1st trial. choc is an all-time fav rite? hohoho~ wana try? =P the invaluable feedback from family and frens gave me courage for my second attempt. this time i did strawberry muffins which i tried to modify from the choc chip muffin recipe. fruits muffins may offer a healthier choice; got more fibre (with fresh strawberries! ) n vitamins? haha.. which one do u prefer? =)
somehow baking makes me feel more composed. perhaps it keeps my mind occupied.
a whole series of feasting this season. burps! thanx to all my frens. =D mb someone needs to send a fatty bom bom to physical training. haha~
buffet feast is my 1st stop. the food variety was so much i got difficulty choosing what to eat, let alone the desserts. hohoho.. its quite fun stuffing ingredients for the kueh pai tie n then stuffing them into the mouths, the juices and sauces of the veg just oozed out. haha~ can u imagine tt? =P sebrina n i really like the lotus root soup*. tasted just right though a bit oily. sebrina continued to surprise me with the big slice of mango cake. my stomach almost stuffed to the brim liaoz.. sebrina said i looked disturbed when the waitresses sang the bday song. actually i was disturbed by the cake size n not their singing skill. haha.. hope they dun get mistaken. =)
* PS: lotus roots are good n nourishing for skin.
i spent a meaningful day back at my alma mater. there was a carnival organised for old folks to eat, play n relax. i brought one old folk to jalan ard. she wasn't v spontaneous with the games but she really liked the popiah! we queued v v long for the popiah. o.O glad she liked it. so sad no popiahs for me.. =(
i felt nostaglic for not having been there for so so long. the sch hall is now air-conditioned. i rmb it used to b the noisy water droplet dripping fans hanging on the walls of the hall. so if anyone got the seating below these fans during the exams they were the pretty lucky ones. haha. its so much better now le. =) i also went back to ntu abt 2 weeks ago. i was so so sad when i found out the polymer lab n computer lab were no longer there le. ='(
anyway i digressed. peter, joanne n i went to a jap restaurant (the name i forgot liaoz). there were a lot of fried food. x_X i dun noe its me having poor appetite or lack of sleep or missing tt popiah in the afternoon.. i din eat much. =( then after tt joanne surpised me with an ice cream basket!! i've been so so craving for ice cream de.. i was at a loss of words.
a surprise from my mentor. =) another round of cakes. luckily not v big.. =) yummy yummy~ just nice for tea break. i rmb we also had the little cakes for sebrina's bday last year. any changes? =)
another round of jap food. =P so hungry after waiting for 20 min to get seated. plus some time to browse thru the menu. highlight of the dinner was the fish-shape waffle ice cream. so kawai-! ^^

pangkor is a sunny fishing island in the west part of malaysia. The place is surrounded by clear waters and sandy beaches. a good plc for relaxing under the hot hot weather.
its a long ardous journey thru the nite. the morning was so early tt the cat and dog were still sleeping soundly. snore!

more seafood.. burps~ almost every meal contained seafood. delicious but.. o.O is it too much? nope! haha..
getaway trips like such can momentarily bring one away from the reality. returning to the nature & explore the wonders within.
sebrina had her lovely wedding on the last fri of may. happiness was clearly written on her face throughout the day. our xing fu pretty bride~ =) everything went well as planned & the groom had a good time too i hope. haha~ ^^
at the wedding banquet, many good friends, families & relatives came over to give the couples their blessings. apart from our colleagues, bosses & big bosses, there are quite a few familar faces too. ricky, who used to be sebrina's coursemate & my tutor back @ ntu, was the emcee for the night. anne was there too~ =) derek sure had a good time tt nite. toasting from tables to tables. sure enuff he had a tummy full of alcohol. haha.. & sebrina looked pretty happy abt it ar~ hmm~~ mb its free flow, so just bottoms up! cheers.

its been some time i met up with my bss pals. this time we did trekking @ henderson waves. oh~ then the sun was blazing hot!! luckily i din turn chao da~ i think buying sunblock lotion was a better option than insect repellant lehz~ anyway, its good to return to nature once in a while, and be embraced by the birds, flora and fauna. =)
the plc wasn't crowded too, so its pretty nice to go there. or mb the weather was too unbearable for ppl to go there relax? yupz~ definitely a good plc to have a natural sauna. haha~ =D
i also went for the arts fest opening ceremony some weeks ago. my 1st time to marina barrage! =) its like going on an excursion. we explored the exhibits inside showing how the dams work while waiting for the performance to start. the barrage is actually not v accessible (there was free shuttle service then), & the plc is pretty big & has a lovely view of the sea & the sg flyer in the evening. oh yes, sebrina took her wedding shots there too. =)
last week we celebrated jos' bday @ manhattan. i had OT tt day.. x_X we gave jos a real surprise for the celebration. well, all of us were taken aback. actually i only asked the staff to bring up the bday cake with lighted candles. all of the service crew suddenly popped up in front of us to sing bday song with the cake. the couple beside also wished her. haha, then the guy told the gal he'll celebrate hers like tt too. glad tt jos liked it. =P
oh yes, the alabama smoothie there was great! i dun think it was becoz i was hungry as i sort of lack appetite tt moment, it really tastes good!! leslie tried too & said v nice. oo~ i wana drink the smoothie again. dun need eat dinner. =)
i noe its v late to call my meal lunch at 4pm.. haha~ i was so hungry on my way home!! =X lucky there's no strong food aroma on the train to arouse my hunger even more. & its good to be home afterall. oo~ =)
its been an exact year since i last use the stationeries in my pencil box. =P & apparently only 1 pen out of 3 is working fine. o.O hehe.. yet, its really great to pick up my pencil case & go back to classroom after 1 year of work, Work & WORK~! ya i'm still working if u r wondering.. haha.. my 1st jap lesson is great. info overload, & many assignments & many memorising work to do.. i shall not b lz~ ganbatte~!! the sensei is from hokkaido. & hokkaido reminds me of seafood! ^^ yummy~ =P
after class i went bz searching for some farewell gifts. sales everywhere, yet i was clueless abt what to get.. the abrupt news disclosed during the last meeting shocked almost everyone in the lab. well.. everyone has got to come to terms tt ppl come & go one fine day. thinking of it, its been one year since i started out working after grad too. time flies rite? i'm thankful for the support given by my bosses in this past one year. & i really appreciate them for giving me chance to start out my career in the research line.
after a long search i finally found sth nice~ A pair of mugs packed in a v sweet box. looks like a candy hse like the one in 'Hansel and Gretel' fairy tale rite? =P seems like the catch of the gift is not the mugs but the box. lol. hope my boss can find a cozy plc as home with her hubby in the States. =) the mugs r also pretty though, with some grey cats. meow~ ^^ the other pair has got some floral prints. also looks nice rite? can brew his fav tea in the microwave oven (tts uniquely how my big boss make his drink). =)
